Please pardon my narcissism. . .I need a self portrait for another project and I need to do an illio for skyline. My whole world right now is about consolidating. . .any projects that can somehow fit within other projects. . .    Studio Friday is 7 layers – when I think of layers I think of photoshop. It might not look like it but this piece definitely has 7+ layers. And finally, SPT self portrait as . . .dorothy in an urban oz. (I changed the title after reading Jeannine's fabulous comment – it simply was a much superior title then I had come up with.)

I think I should get the remote that goes with my camera though. All my self portraits have that self portrait arm in it. . .trying to hold camera and look casual. . .

Took a class from Michael deMeng. It was lovely to see him again – he is a most excellent person as well as a fabulous teacher. I highly recommend! I was a bit brain dead having partied too hard the night before and only obtaining two hours of sleep. But oddly enough I still was able to make something that resembled art.

Illio friday’s topic is under the sea and Inspire me Thursday’s is digital art. Since I am so new to digital art I try and just focus on learning different aspects of photoshop for each piece. Learning about layers or how the heck to use the lasso tool, etc. This was created in photoshop CS2. But if you don’t have photoshop Gimp is a good open source free program. Or for more free image editing programs. Or for fun – if you want to simulate an oil painting.

I do have a few favorite places as I learn. For fantastic images my favorite place to start is the NYPL digital gallery. My favorite place for photoshop brushes is deviantART. For borders I just have not found that many I like yet. Any ideas or places I should scope out? I need to start a link section for digital goodies.
